Who Are These People?
Your humble commentators/narrators are John and Kim Morris. They are a couple who have been traveling the world for decades, and more than three years ago began roaming the United States in order to see and experience the parts of it they had earlier missed. They are trying to understand a country that no longer resembles the one they grew up in, that has become something other than the America of their American dream. You can’t understand America without experiencing it, meeting its people, and living in their homes and communities.
John thinks of himself as a traveler who loves to write, but he has been a soldier, a taxi driver, a big-firm lawyer, and an entrepreneur. Kim was John’s partner in their entrepreneurial pursuits and has also worked as a human resources professional and personal adviser.
John has written a memoir about their life together which is focused on their world travels and the twenty years – from 1988 to 2008 – they lived in South Africa. The book is South – A path of my own, and can, of course, be purchased from Amazon.
South: A path of my own
Author: John Morris
With our friends’ warnings of impending civil war, certain death, and worse echoing in our heads, Kim and I set off for a place others were leaving on what would be the adventure of our lives: Twenty years in Africa during a tumultuous period of change.
That adventure is at the heart of “South.”
