Self-driving cars are un-American.  America was founded and settled by people who found their own way — people who crossed an alien continent on their own with nothing but their wits to guide them.  Beyond our founding, large parts of the American identity and culture are based on the open road and Americans driving themselves across states, regions, and this continent on that open road — controlling their own fate and destiny.  A self-driving car robs people of control and agency, and goes against what Americans think of themselves and what they stand for.  Self-driving and GPS are not the same thing.  But they are closely related and the use of both will diminish both your physical and mental skills.  If we allow self-driving cars in this country, we are paving the road to our own decline and ultimate doom.
